Commercial Business Controller
Hubexo
Commercial Business Controller
Lisbon, Portugal | Global Finance
We're looking for an experienced Commercial Business Controller to work alongside our Sales and Marketing leaders across the UK and Central Europe, as well as Global Marketing.
You'll help us understand what's driving revenue, where investment is paying off and what needs to change.
You'll influence decisions, challenge assumptions and own the revenue and sales and marketing numbers behind them. As our global finance function evolves, you'll also help improve the way we work.
This is a role where your analysis should lead to action, not simply another report.
What you'll be doing
• Own revenue and sales and marketing reporting, budgets and forecasts for the UK and Central Europe.
• Partner with commercial leaders on pricing, growth, investment and resource decisions, providing insight and constructive challenge.
• Analyse bookings, pipeline, churn, upsell and pricing to explain commercial performance and identify what could improve.
• Evaluate sales and marketing costs, including headcount, commissions, campaigns and channel spend, and assess their return.
• Build business cases and scenario models, then track commercial investments through to measurable results.
• Contribute to SaaS performance reporting, including annual recurring revenue (ARR), net revenue retention and customer acquisition cost.
• Work closely with Global FP&A and fellow Business Controllers to connect regional plans and performance with the Group financial picture.
• Help strengthen commercial finance processes, standards and ways of working.
What you'll bring
You'll know how to turn financial analysis into decisions that make a difference. Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the underlying numbers.
• Substantial experience in commercial finance, business controlling or FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial modelling.
• Experience partnering with senior commercial stakeholders, especially Sales and Marketing leaders, and the confidence to challenge their thinking.
• Evidence of owning a financial area or process end to end and delivering tangible results.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain financial matters clearly to colleagues outside finance.
• Experience in an established finance environment, with a clear understanding of effective processes and standards.
• The adaptability to work in a changing business and a genuine interest in how software and subscription businesses grow.
Experience in SaaS or technology, international commercial finance, improving finance functions or developing colleagues would be valuable. A recognised accounting qualification (such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA or a local equivalent) is welcome.
