Job Purpose
The BIM Engineer – Planning 4D will be responsible for integrating BIM methodologies with construction planning to improve project sequencing, coordination, and performance analysis. This role focuses on developing and implementing 4D BIM workflows, linking 3D models with construction programmes to provide enhanced visibility of project progress, identify potential planning and coordination risks, and support data-driven decision-making. The position will contribute to the development of BIM standards, planning analytics, and project performance indicators across complex multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
4D BIM Planning & Simulation
Develop and implement BIM-based 4D planning workflows, linking multidisciplinary 3D models with construction programmes to visualize construction sequences, activities, dependencies, and project milestones.
Construction Programme Analysis
Analyse complex construction programmes and multidisciplinary project information, identifying sequencing constraints, interfaces, risks, and opportunities for improved project execution.
BIM & Planning Coordination
Coordinate BIM models and planning information across multidisciplinary design and construction teams, ensuring alignment between project geometry, construction activities, and planned delivery sequences.
Project Performance Analytics
Develop analytics, KPIs, and performance indicators to evaluate construction project performance, progress, sequencing, and planning efficiency.
BIM Standards & Requirements
Develop and implement BIM Project Standards and complementary BIM requirements and guidelines related to planning, 4D modelling, information exchange, and project controls.
Data & Reporting
Transform planning and BIM data into meaningful reports, dashboards, and technical presentations to support project management and stakeholder decision-making.
Power BI & Data Visualization
Where applicable, utilize Power BI to develop interactive analytics and dashboards based on construction planning and project performance data.
Project Support & Risk Identification
Provide BIM and planning expertise to project teams, using 4D visualization and data analysis to identify potential coordination issues, programme risks, and opportunities for optimization.
Stakeholder Communication
Communicate technical findings, planning analyses, and project performance indicators effectively to internal teams, clients, and other project stakeholders.
Project & Site Support
Provide support across project locations and participate in travel as required to facilitate BIM planning, coordination, and project delivery activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience
3+ years of evidenced professional experience in BIM management, BIM engineering, BIM coordination, or BIM specialist roles, preferably within complex multidisciplinary construction projects.
Industry Expertise
Experience within critical infrastructure facilities such as Data Centers, buildings, high-tech industrial projects such as semiconductor facilities, and/or modular and prefabrication construction environments.
BIM & Planning Expertise
Strong understanding of BIM methodologies and standards, with demonstrated ability to interpret, analyse, and coordinate multidisciplinary design and construction projects.
4D BIM
Practical experience implementing BIM-based 4D planning and construction simulation is highly desirable.
Construction Planning
Ability to understand and evaluate complex construction programmes, including sequencing, dependencies, milestones, and project performance.
Data & Analytics
Ability to develop project analytics and KPIs for construction performance evaluation. Knowledge of Power BI for planning data analysis and visualization is highly desirable.
Standards & Processes
Ability to develop BIM Project Standards and complementary BIM requirements and guidelines.
Technical Communication
Strong ability to develop technical reports, presentations, and data-driven project outputs.
Language Skills
Intermediate proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Communication & Collaboration
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with different project stakeholders.
