About The Team
The Payroll Product Activation team owns the product strategy for how customers transition their entity, contract, and payroll infrastructure onto Deel. We solve the problem of compressing what has traditionally been a months-long, manual process into something that scales intelligently across thousands of customers with wildly different setups.
Our customers range from startups launching their first payroll runs to global enterprises managing multiple legal entities and compliance requirements across dozens of jurisdictions. The team is rebuilding core infrastructure with AI-first principles, enabling our systems to take autonomous action on setup workflows. You'll collaborate with strong technical leadership and operate in an environment where speed and judgment compound rapidly.

Summary
As a Senior Product Manager II, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for payroll onboarding automation. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, design, compliance, and go-to-market partners to deliver automation that scales intelligently across thousands of customer variations. You'll balance strategic vision with pragmatic execution in a high-velocity environment where roadmaps shift quickly and your product decisions directly impact how fast customers can go live.
Responsibilities
- Build and own a clear product vision and strategy for your area; communicate that vision upward, laterally, and into the execution team with conviction
- Drive the full product development lifecycle, from problem definition through design, engineering collaboration, launch, and measurement, with a bias toward shipping impact quickly
- Own the automation strategy: define what scalable automation actually means in a space where every customer's setup is different; measure progress in ways that reflect real customer impact
- Collaborate with engineering leadership and technical teams to navigate complex trade-offs between handling customer variation, maintaining compliance, and moving fast; push back on estimates and own product-engineering decisions
- Work cross-functionally across entity setup, contract setup, and infrastructure teams to align on shared requirements and surface where one domain's decisions cascade into another's complexity
- Synthesize customer escalations and edge cases to identify patterns; use those patterns to inform which automations unlock the most value and which problems need configuration-driven solutions
- Manage in ambiguity and high-velocity contexts: make decisions with incomplete information, communicate uncertainty clearly, and course-correct quickly as you learn
- Partner with go-to-market and customer success teams to understand customer needs, gather feedback, and ensure product-market fit during a significant platform rebuild
- Minimum 5+ years of product management experience in fast-paced, high-complexity environments (scaleup, fintech, regulated industries, or infrastructure-heavy products strongly preferred)
- Proven experience shipping in regulated or high-stakes domains where precision, compliance, and multi-stakeholder accountability are core to the work
- Strong systems and process thinking, comfortable with problems that have interconnected parts, multiple stakeholders, and ambiguous solutions
- Pragmatic mindset: able to identify which problems need perfect solutions and which need "good enough" solutions; comfortable making trade-offs with conviction
- Independent and autonomous leader, thrive owning strategy and execution in less-structured environments; comfortable escalating decisions but not waiting for perfect information
- Technical credibility: understand engineering constraints, collaborate effectively with technical leaders, and own product-engineering trade-offs (coding not required)
- Comfort with velocity and ambiguity, energized by high-speed environments where priorities shift and you're expected to move fast while staying rigorous

- Our salary range reflects gross base salary. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission.
