King’s College School, Cascais is a premier, world-class international school operating under the prestigious Inspired Education Group. Spanning a state-of-the-art 40,000-square-meter campus, the school delivers a world-renowned British and International curriculum (including Cambridge and the International Baccalaureate) to a diverse community representing over 40 nationalities. At the heart of our vibrant campus is our elite Boarding House, which acts as a "home away from home" for up to 50 international resident students.
In this context, the School Monitor plays a vital role within our high-performance pastoral team. This position is essential to maintaining the school’s reputation for providing a safe, elite, and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day lives of our students outside the formal classroom, ensuring they thrive in an organized, inclusive, and emotionally supportive atmosphere. Acting as a key point of contact during recreation, meals, and residential routines, the Monitor bridges operational efficiency with high-quality pastoral care to help develop confident, global citizens.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision and Safety: Actively monitor students during break times, meals, boarding activities, and off-campus excursions.
- Routine Management: Enforce daily schedules, arrival/departure protocols, and school health and safety regulations.
- Pastoral Care: Support students' social and emotional well-being by handling conflicts calmly and empathetically.
- Activity Coordination: Assist in organizing recreational, cultural, and team-building activities for diverse age groups.
- Incident Reporting: Log and escalate behavioral changes, welfare concerns, or medical issues to school leadership.
- Logistical Support: Collaborate with school staff to prepare facilities for events, assemblies, and field trips.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Experience: Proven experience working with children or teenagers (e.g., schools, summer camps, youth clubs).
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English; conversational Portuguese is highly advantageous.
- Key Skills: Strong teamwork, cultural awareness, punctuality, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Safeguarding: Absolute commitment to child protection; a clean criminal record check (Registo Criminal) is mandatory.
- Legal: Valid right to work in Portugal/European Union.
