Airport Engineering & Construction Project Coordinator

Examples of Duties

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Degree in Engineering, Construction Technology or closely related field
  • Five years of full time paid general engineering and construction management experience is preferred.

Airport Engineering & Construction Project Coordinator

  • Project Management or Construction Management Certifications (e.g. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), etc.)
  • Working knowledge of project management software, such as Microsoft Project.
  • Must be computer proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, have working knowledge of project management and design software.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to review and comprehend design and construction contracts as to properly manage and administer them through the life of a project.
  • Manages project funds and bonds, ensuring federal, state and local requirements, standards, policies, and procedures are met.
  • Manages grants for projects in compliance with funding source requirements.
  • Coordinates procurement process for design and construction projects including but not limited preparing legislation requests, requests for proposals/qualifications, detailed bid specifications and drawings and subsidiary agreements.
  • Prepares and reviews complex technical plans, designs, permits, plats, reports, forms, cases, request for proposals, drawings, calculations, contracts, specifications, agreements, submittals, pay applications, change orders, and other documentation.
  • Facilitates design and construction coordination meetings and report on the progress of the project to airport leadership, stakeholders and local officials.
  • Must have excellent planning skills and be able to effectively schedule tasks, meet project milestones and review contractor invoices for accuracy.
  • Must effectively manage consultants and contractors, monitoring quality of work performed, and ensuring tasks are complete according to design documents and within the budgetary and time restrictions of the contract.
  • Acts as the lead and owner representative for small and large projects.
  • Coordinates project activities with contractors, various City Departments, airport stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics, building codes, FAA Advisory Circulars, and relevant laws to ensure the project complies with building and regulatory standards.
  • Must thoroughly document project activities through meeting minutes, change management logs, project management plans, etc.
