Job Description
Are you an experienced Cloud Infrastructure professional who loves building rock-solid foundations, automating governance, and streamlining developer platforms? We are looking for a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to join our nearshore team in Portugal!
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions. Working closely with cross-functional Agile squads, you will help unbreak and unify fragmented cloud landscapes, driving efficiency, security, and cost-effectiveness across a high-availability production estate.
What you will do:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design and implement secure, scalable AWS infrastructure solutions using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation (with an emphasis on building reusable enterprise modules).
Cloud Governance & Security: Refactor organization-wide environments, standardizing multi-account landing zones, unified IAM models, and automated compliance guardrails aligned with CIS benchmarks.
Advanced Networking: Standardize core cloud networking, including DNS management, traffic segmentation, routing patterns, and secure cross-cloud/intra-cloud connectivity.
Container Orchestration: Manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and zero-trust network policies.
CI/CD & Automation: Develop and optimize end-to-end deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and create custom automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Go.
Observability & SRE: Implement and maintain robust logging, monitoring, and alerting systems (CloudWatch, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ELK) to enhance operational readiness and reduce downtime
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience working with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation). (Note: image image_76cc62.png mentions 3+ years, but the project requires a Mid-Senior to Principal engineering mindset).
IaC Mastery: Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform and Terragrunt.
Containerization: Solid understanding of Docker and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes / AWS EKS).
Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
Monitoring Systems: Experience implementing monitoring, tracing, and logging stacks (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana).
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum team environment, with strong communication skills to document architecture clearly.
Preferred Skills (Big Plus):
Experience working within Financial Services, banking, or highly regulated/audited environments (SOC2, compliance frameworks).
Prior experience dealing with cloud cost optimization (FinOps), capacity planning, and resource lifecycle management.
Familiarity with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD/Flux).
