Lead Data / Data Migration Project Manager - Freelance

About the mission

One of my clients — a company based near Porto — is looking for an experienced Lead Data / Data Migration Project Manager to own and drive a critical data migration initiative. This is a hands-on project leadership role. You'll be responsible for end-to-end delivery: scoping, planning, coordinating technical and business stakeholders, monitoring data quality, and ensuring the project stays on track.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the data migration project from kickoff to go-live

• Define and maintain project scope, roadmap, and delivery milestones

• Coordinate with data engineers, architects, and business teams

• Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance throughout the migration

• Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and blockers proactively

• Report progress to senior stakeholders and client leadership

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data project management, ideally with a focus on data migration

• Strong understanding of ETL processes, data governance, and data quality frameworks

• Experience working with cross-functional teams (technical + business)

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Fluent in English and Portuguese (both mandatory)

• French is a significant advantage

• Comfortable with a part-time, on-site engagement near Porto
