About The Role
As a Project Buyer, you will play a key role in managing procurement activities for new product development. You will collaborate closely with global teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure cost, quality, and timeline targets are consistently met. You will work within a dynamic team of Project Buyers supported by assistants in Portugal and Germany.
Your work will span supplier management, sourcing strategy, cost optimisation, and coordination between project and series purchasing. You will also participate in international project meetings and contribute to the successful launch of new products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project purchasing for new product development
- Develop sourcing strategies for project components
- Conduct international purchasing of assemblies and components
- Select suppliers and lead contract negotiations
- Request, analyse, and negotiate supplier quotations
- Ensure delivery timelines, cost efficiency, and quality standards
- Monitor procurement markets, pricing trends, and technologies
- Support cost optimisation and complexity reduction initiatives
- Coordinate between the project and the series purchasing
- Track tool and initial sample schedules
- Ensure material availability for product launches
- Maintain project documentation and cost tracking
- Participate in global project meetings
- Manage supplier relationships and performance
- 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, ideally in project buying
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively
- Experience working in international environments
- Strong MS Office skills; SAP knowledge is an advantage
- Fluent English; Portuguese is a plus
- Technical understanding of materials such as electronics, plastics, or tooling is desirable
