The Polytechnic of Leiria is calling for applications for 1 Research Scholarship (BI) within the scope of PSER SKRETTING-AI, funded by the Polytechnic of Leiria, under the following conditions:
. SCIENTIFIC AREA: Marine Biology, Aquaculture
. DESTINATORS: Masters students in Aquaculture .
. DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: The scholarship will last for 6 months and may be renewed for a further 6 months, starting in 06/2024.
. WORK PLAN: Work plan - Setting up the systems for the trial, maintaining the aquaculture systems, monitoring the water parameters, feeding the individuals. Taking part in sampling to collect biological material.
. PROVIDER AND SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION: The work will be carried out at Mare - Polytechnic of Leiria, under the scientific guidance of Specialist Professor Teresa Maria Coelho Baptista.
. FINANCIAL COMPONENTS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP: Monthly maintenance allowance of €990.98, according to the FCT, I.P. table of values (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). To this amount is added the monthly amount for Voluntary Social Insurance, if applicable, in accordance with the conditions defined in the Research Fellow Statute. The grant holder will benefit from Personal Accident Insurance during the course of the grant.
. PAYMENT: The grant will be paid monthly by bank transfer to the account identified by the grant holder.
. ACTIVITY SCHEME: Exclusivity, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
. APPLICATION DEADLINE: 07 May 2024 to 20 May 2024
. SELECTION METHODS AND EVALUATION CRITERIA: The evaluation will be carried out by means of a curriculum analysis and will focus on the merit of the candidate, which will be considered and weighted according to the following:
Suitability of the area of study of the academic qualification - 10%
Classification of academic degree - 20%
General experience/knowledge - 30%
Specific knowledge in the area - 40%
The following formula will be used to calculate the final grade: NF (MC)= AE

Note: If the candidate(s) holding a foreign qualification(s) do not present the document(s) proving, at the application stage, that the foreign degree or diploma has been recognised and that the classification has been converted to the Portuguese classification scale, the jury will establish the conversion, for the purposes of the competition only, based on the rules of the legal regime applicable to the recognition of foreign degrees and diplomas or, when impossible, will apply the minimum classification of 10 points.
Please note that academic degrees obtained in foreign countries need to be registered by a Portuguese institution in accordance with Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August and Ministerial Order no. 33/2019 of 25 January. . ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS: Without prejudice to the provisions of the rules applicable to each type of scholarship, the following are eligible for scholarships:
a) Nationals or citizens of other member states of the European Union;
b) Citizens of third countries;
c) Stateless persons;
d) Beneficiaries of political refugee status.
