A tender is hereby opened for the award of 1Research Grant (RG) under project Electric-Field Engineered Lattice Distortions (E-FiELD) for optoelectronic devices / Distorções estruturais controladas por campo elétrico para dispositivos optoelectrónicos, CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials), reference PTDC/NAN-MAT/0098/2020), under the following conditions:

1. Scientific Area: Materials science and engineering

2. Financing Source: Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P./MCTES, via national funds (PIDDAC)

3. Admission Requirements:

1. Students enrolled in doctoral programs at the University of Aveiro;

And

1. Master or Bachelor Degree in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Candidates must have:

- Proven experience in materials processing and characterization, namely electrical characterization (dielectrics, nonlinear dielectrics, piezoelectrics).

- A relevant curriculum, with significant scientific activity in the field, including participation in technical-scientific conferences, scientific publications, or other relevant activities.

- Proven experience in participating in R&D projects.

- Proficiency in oral and written English.

Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree or equivalent and candidates with a bachelor's degree will only be hired if master's degree holders do not apply, or if they apply, are not in the desired area of training and/or do not have the required experience above referred.

The proof of enrolment must be made available until the contract is awarded, and the candidate may attach a declaration of honor to confirm that they meet the requirements for enrolment in an integrated master's degree, master's or doctoral program or in a course that does not confer an academic degree.

If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution it must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, under the terms of the provisions of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16th, which approves the legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of Higher Education, attributed by foreign higher education institutions, and of paragraph e) of no. 2 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018, of August 3rd, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the date of the hiring act.

4. Eligibility: Applicants are eligible if they comply with paragraph a) of no.1 of article 2, of the Research Fellow Statute in the wording given by Decree-Law no. 123/2019, of August 28th, and also the provisions of article 9 of the Scientific Research Grant Regulations of the University of Aveiro. The duration of the RG is, as a rule, annual, extendable to a maximum of two years, in the case of master's degrees, integrated master's degrees and non-degree courses, and the respective duration, including renewal, may be consecutive or interpolated, pursuant to no. 5 of Article 9 of the above mentioned Regulation.

5. Work plan: Systematic characterization of functional thin films, among a set of materials developed within the consortium of the project, developed and to be developed for optoelectronic nanodevices, namely materials with functional properties such as nonlinear dielectrics, piezoelectrics, multiferroics, using XRD and Raman techniques for systematic structural and electrical characterization.

6. Applicable legislation and regulations: Research Fellow Statute, as amended by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of August 28th; Scientific Research Grant Regulation of the University of Aveiro, Regulation No. 292/2020, published in Diário da República No. 61, Series II, of March 26th; Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th (Legal regime of recognition of academic degrees and diplomas of higher education awarded by foreign higher education institutions).

7. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Department of Materials Engineering and Ceramics and CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, at the University of Aveiro, under the scientific guidance of Professor Dr. Paula Maria Lousada Silveirinha Vilarinho.

8. Duration of the grant(s): The scholarship will have a duration of nine (9) months, starting on June 1, 2024, and may be renewed up to the maximum limit of the approved funding, but in no case can it exceed the limits defined in paragraphs 3 and 4 of article 6 of Regulation No. 950/2019, of November 29, published in the Diário da República, n.º 241, 2.ª Série, de 16 de dezembro (Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT, I.P.).

9. Amount of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to €1.259,64, according to the monthly maintenance subsidy values set out in Annex I of Regulation No. 950/2019, subject to updates applicable to it, as provided for in paragraph 2 of Article 18 of Regulation No. 950/2019, of November 29, published in Diário da República, No. 241, 2nd Series, of December 16 (Regulation of Research Grants of FCT, I.P.). The fellow may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of adherence to this plan

10. Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be the following: curriculum vitae assessment, with the respective value of 100 %. If the jury deems it necessary, an interview will be conducted with the top 2 candidates, with a weighting of 50% for curriculum evaluation and 50% for the interview.

11. Composition of the Selection Jury: Paula Maria Lousada Silveirinha Vilarinho (president of the jury), Paula Celeste Ferreira (effective member), Alexander Tkach (effective member), Filipe Oliveira (alternate member) e Idalina Gonçalves (alternate member).

12. Deadline for applications and how to submit applications: The call is open from 2nd until 15th May 2024, and only applications submitted within the deadline will be admitted.

Applications must be formalized by sending a letter of application accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, academic transcript, declaration of commitment to honor, and other relevant supporting documents. 13. Form of publication/notification of results: The final assessment results will be announced through a list ordered by final grade posted on the University's website within a maximum period of 90 business days after the final submission date of the application. The approved candidate will be notified via email, and a period of 10 business days will be set for a prior hearing of interested parties, as provided by the Administrative Procedure Code. At the end of the deadline set for the hearing of interested parties, and in the event of no response from them, the candidate ranking list will become definitive. Candidates may file a complaint within 15 business days from the final decision notification, or appeal to the highest executive body of the funding entity within 30 business days from the notification of the final decision, in accordance with Article 12 of the Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology.

14. Tender duration: The final ranking list of candidates will be valid until 30 June 2024, for the purpose of constituting a reserve list for selection.
