Job Description
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer is an experienced engineering professional who applies advanced engineering knowledge to architect, design, and develop complex embedded software systems. This is a senior technical role with the candidate expected to be a key technical leader and mentor in building compelling informatics products within Abbott's Diagnostics Division. The individual will lead the development and deployment of system and software architecture to support informatics development programs, while providing technical guidance to junior team members. She/he will also be responsible for leading technical initiatives for on-market products post-launch and driving continuous improvement efforts. The individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing sophisticated embedded software systems as a part of Abbott's pre-analytics portfolio, while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, implement, and evaluate software using languages like C, C++. Assist in preparing software design requirements and specifications per Abbott's design development process. Evaluate selected designs through testing and documentation, addressing moderate scope problems. Participate in software development, verification, and validation under guidance. Adhere to Design Control procedures for software development. Demonstrate proficiency in software implementation. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, or related field with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of RFID technology
- Operating Systems & Kernel Development
- Deep proficiency in Linux kernel development and customization
- Strong knowledge of Android kernel modification and AOSP
- Extensive knowledge of Microchip microcontrollers (PIC, AVR, SAM series)
- Proficiency with Atmel microcontrollers and development tools
- Strong background with Espressif SoCs (ESP32, ESP8266 series)
- Understanding of peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB)
- Advanced proficiency in C for embedded systems
