General Ledger Accountant - Portugal

The position

We are currently looking for a General Ledger Accountant for our Corporate Finance team, Central Europe Cluster. The person will be responsible for one of our entities in Germany, and reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance, Central Europe Cluster, located in Darmstadt (Germany).

You will be responsible for the overall accounting, period end closing activities, financial controlling and reporting of this sales and service entity. Following acquisitions and an inhomogeneous system landscape, your focus will in the beginning be very much on account reconciliations. While managing this alignment, you ensure compliance with both Group Reporting following IFRS rules as well as local GAAP for statutory purpose.

Depending on your skills, experience and preferences, you can take on responsibility in our future project to globally rollout SAP S/4 HANA. Initially, you will work with the current version of DATEV, a German-specific accounting program, or the legacy Financial Force system.

Primary Responsibilities

Within the team, that is currently located in Germany (Darmstadt) and Portugal (Porto), your daily work includes:

• Calculate and post monthly provisions as per communication with business, e.g. HR department.
• Month end closing activities in our Accounting system.
• Monthly Reporting for HBK Group consolidation following IFRS rules.
• Ensure that statutory financial requirements in the jurisdiction are met (yearend audit, tax reporting etc.).
• Account reconciliations and analysis of P&L and B/S positions in comparison to Plan or Last Year together with the business.
• Improvement and alignment of processes and data in preparation for rollout of our new SAP S/4 HANA system.
• For other jurisdiction covered by the Central European Finance team, you will be able to support colleagues during vacation, or as a development perspective.
  
  

Professional Qualifications

• You have experience in Accounting and Financial Controlling of a European, ideally German legal entity – preferably in a production or project business environment.
• You are familiar with the IFRS standards and German GAAP (HGB).
• You speak fluent English language, ideally also German.

• You are able to work in a complex environment
