Global Automation Engineer & Database Administrator - Oracle (m/f/d)

Your Role

You will be part of our Global Database Team and work as an automation representative to improve our automation landscape, focusing on Oracle Database tasks such as deployment, deletion, patching, upgrades, etc.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of DBAs to develop and maintain automation workflows for standardized Oracle databases on RedHat Linux across Kuehne+Nagel’s private and AWS cloud environments.
• Design and enhance self-service workflows based on business needs, aligning with requestors, the Automation Team, and frontend developers.
• Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams, including Infrastructure Automation, Virtualization & Storage, and Linux Administration.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, propose enhancements, and implement agreed changes proactively.
• Ensure documentation is kept in code, internal wikis, and self-service portals.
• Follow and help define automation and database standards, contributing to security, disaster recovery, and service documentation.
• Continuously learn new technologies and deepen your understanding of Oracle databases and SQL to support workflow development and optimization.
• Participate in the 24/7 on-call duty rotation after onboarding.
  
  

Your Skills And Experiences

• Basic knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux (RedHat) system administration.
• Practical experience with automation tools (e.g., vRealize Orchestrator, Ansible, Git), scripting languages (Bash, JavaScript, Python), and working with APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, etc.).
• Ability to independently perform error analysis and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and a service-oriented, collaborative working style.
• Proven ability to work independently with a goal-focused approach.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel to Hamburg approximately 1/2 times per year.
