What’s the opportunity about?

As we expand and evolve our platform, Unbabel is looking for a Frontend Development Intern to help us advance our user interfaces and web application experiences. This is a unique opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, contribute to impactful frontend projects, and build skills in modern web development.

Key Details:

  • Location: Hybrid in Lisbon (at least 2x per week in the office)
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Salary: €1,000/month gross
  • Working language: English

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to build new features and improve interface performance.
  • Assist in developing user-friendly and accessible UI components.
  • Help integrate our web apps with APIs and internal services.
  • Participate in discussions around design and technical approaches.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code with guidance from mentors.
  • Test, debug, and troubleshoot interface issues.
  • Learn about best practices in secure coding and responsive web design.
  • Take part in peer code reviews and team meetings.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Basic understanding of web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Interest in learning and working with modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js or similar is a plus).
  • Eagerness to learn about web application development, UI/UX design, and accessibility.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an English-speaking environment.
  • Self-motivated, with a willingness to ask questions and seek feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with team-based projects or contributing to existing codebases (university, personal, or open-source).
  • Familiarity with Git and version control.
  • Any exposure to REST APIs or web services.
