Job Description

The Technical Project Manager – CE Optical Networks will play a key role in the planning, execution, and delivery of optical network projects for customers, as well as in the introduction and validation of new optical transport solutions in the assigned region since for this position you will have to carry out some rNPI activities.

This hybrid role requires a combination of advanced technical skills in optical networking and project management capabilities. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of optical solutions, ensuring alignment between customer requirements, product capabilities, and Nokia’s strategy.

The TPM will work closely with internal teams (R&D, customer engineering, technical support, sales, and operations) and end customers to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the seamless integration of new technologies into existing networks.

Occasional travel to the EMEA region is expected in Europe.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

Technical Project Management (TPM) - 75%

  • Lead technical projects in the field of optical networking for customers in the region, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery.
  • Define the technical scope of projects with customers and internal teams, ensuring compliance with functional and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate project execution, overseeing the installation, configuration, and commissioning of optical equipment (DWDM, OTN, ROADM, etc.).
  • Act as the primary technical interface between the customer and Nokia, facilitating communication and addressing technical concerns.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, proposing solutions and alternatives to ensure project success.
  • Supervise acceptance testing in labs and field environments (FAT/SAT), ensuring compliance with contractual specifications.
  • Work closely with support teams to resolve critical issues during implementation and ensure network continuity.
  • Prepare technical documentation and status reports for customers and internal teams, ensuring transparency throughout project execution.

Regional New Product Introduction (rNPI) - 25%

  • Plan and coordinate the launch of new optical solutions in the region, ensuring validation and compatibility with existing networks.
  • Conduct lab and field testing to verify performance, interoperability, and stability of new optical technologies before commercial deployment.
  • Collaborate with R&D and global NPI teams to provide technical feedback on products, identifying improvements and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and update technical documentation on new solutions, facilitating knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
  • Deliver technical training to customers and field engineers, ensuring proper adoption of new technologies.
  • Lead the regional validation strategy for new products, working with operators and technology partners in pilot tests.

Key Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical project management and/or the introduction of new optical networking solutions.
  • Previous experience delivering optical network projects for telecom operators or large enterprises.
  • Advanced knowledge of optical transport technologies, including:
    • 1830PSS family solid knowledge
    • WDM/OTN and G.709 standard
    • Network management using the WaveSuite platform.
    • End-to-end network experience.
    • GMPLS technology
    • Experience in L2/SROS
    • Experience in Layer 2&3 ethernet protocol
    • Experience in synchronization and PTP protocol
    • Experience in Linux/Unix and Rest API scripting
    • Experience with automation tools and optical network management software.
  • Experience conducting acceptance testing in both lab and field environments.
  • Strong background in technical documentation and training.

  • Experience working in multicultural and distributed environments, collaborating with teams across different regions and time zones.

  • Fluent in Portuguese (written and spoken), mother tongue preferred.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), given the international nature of the role.
